Which truly love visiting Óbidos. When we entered there was a musician playing guitar that echo the gorgeously. Then we walked out onto the cobblestone street field with shops and restaurants. We walked all the way to the end where there is a castle. Plenty...More

We stopped and wandered the streets of this wonderful walled city great food, lots of shops, and for the fit folks - a walk along the top of the wall. Well worth the stop - and self proclaimed “chocolate” center of Portugal!

As you approach Obidos what stands out is the still intact 14th century wall surrounding it and the castle which is now a pousada. You can climb the medieval walls and walk around the city and view the roof tops from above. The village itself...More

narrow cobblestone streets and interesting shops lead up to the castle. We tried the Ginjinha cherry liqueur in a chocolate cup. Unfortunately when we were there the narrow lanes were crowded with tour groups that made it difficult to look or take photos. Once you...More

This is a small village inside walls. A bit touristy, but stop anyway. You are able to climb to the top of the walls, but there are no railings so if heights bother you, just admire from below. We saw some women trying to climb...More

Obidos is worth the visit. The prettiest little village .... as if Disney went legitimate and Portuguese at the same time. If you get tired of all the schlock shops on the Direct Street, try the higher altitude one that parallels it. Quieter and really...More

There is a large parking lot as you approach the main gate to the town, can’t miss it. Pay from 9 am to 8 pm but free on weekends.

Apologies for the delay. I could spend three or four days in Obidos, but if time is an issue, a day trip from Lisbon or one night would be fine. In terms of hotels, the pousada, operated by Pestana Hotels is... More
