If you come to Obidos by car you can park the car right at the aqueduct. Nice to take a picture or two. A bit more modern than Roman but still impressive when we think what they used it for.

Acqueduto da Usseira in Obidos central Portugal is a very good looking aqueduct for the background of pictures. Although it is a bit more modern than Roman structures it clearly illustrates how water was transported beforetodays modern systems.

Typical aqueduct put in by one of the queens to bring water to the castle. Worth noting on your way to the village. You really can' miss them if you're paying attention.

Aqueducts are always cool to see, regardless of this one not being Roman, but don't go out of your way. If you are driving in to Obidos, the aqueducts are right by the best public parking area, which the back lot here at the aqueduct...More

This aqueduct is quite extensive and worth a photo. It is amazing to think that this is how the entire town got its water supply.

If you want to see a great Roman aqueduct, this is not one. It is relatively new, comparatively. It is still cool looking and runs about 400 meters or so.

Built under orders of Catherine of Austria in 1575 and therefore relatively new it is still impressive at more than 500 years old. It is a very long structure and to maintain the constant slope the arches rise and fall as it crosses the ground...More

Next to the main parking area, you cannot avoid seeing this well preserved and long aqueduct leading water to the old part of Obidos.

When you arrive by car into Óbidos you can park near the remains of one of several Roman aqueducts still standing in Portugal. All are amazing for how well they have weathered the centuries since their construction--far better than other, more modern buildings. Much credit...More
