The main palace was abandonned for many years but has been opened to the public. In a mauresque style, popular in the 19th century, it is an original building with plenty of charm. The most amazing thing is the park. Incredible gardens with many different...More

Spent about 2 hours strolling the grounds. Beautiful gardens and grounds. Well worth a few hours. New transportation to get there from Sintra central. Bus will do it.

Abandoned for decades, Parques Monte da Lua have been restoring and renovating this very different palace. Audio guide was not very useful, in my opinion but definitely do take a walk around the gardens. And don't miss the kitchen, very innovative for the time.

Some 4 km away from Sintra , you can visit the wonderful park of Monserrate, with exuberant gardens, a richest botanical garden, with many winding paths among the lakes is very nice.

Sintra contains a wealth of amazing building and this is no exception. Built by a rich Englishman - he created a moorish fantasy on top of the hill. It is the architectural details and the gardens that are the highlight here. The contents of the...More

You must drive up for 15 minutes from Sintra to get here, on a very narrow road. But parking is convenient and the park with the palace is fantastic. The history of the English owners is fascinating, I just loved the way it was told...More

Monserrate -- with both the gardens and the palace -- was our favorite park in the area despite all of what Sintra has to offer. After seeing everything, we wish that we had spent more time here and would instead sacrifice extended time at Quinta...More

The palace is fine, very unusual. Not huge but singular. The park is simply awesome. Green and water everywhere, hills, plants, huge trees, places to sit and listen the nature, to chill out. Sintra at its best!
