My wife and I joined VMT Madeira's 3-hour dolphin and whale watching tour in the afternoon. Although other boats had left the harbour before us, VMT Madeira made good speed and we arrived as first at a group of pilot whales, relatively close to shore....More

We took the morning 3 hour trip, and weren’t disappointed. There wasn’t any great tourist commercialism which was great i.e. no photos as we entered the boat etc etc, the focus completely on seeing the whales and dolphins. The crew are very passionate about the...More

This was a well-organised and spotless catamaran with a friendly crew. Spotting wild-life is always the luck of the draw – we saw a large pod of bottlenose dolphins including youngsters, who seemed to enjoy swimming around the boat, which we sat with until our...More

Chose the 10.30am cruise on a Sunday, which was the last full day of our holiday and really enjoyed it. Saw both whales (at a distance) and dolphins (bit nearer). There was also a 15 min' swimming stop for those who wanted to. We were...More

Yes, I regard it as safe if you go a day the sea is not rough and the currents are ok. You do not go to the front part of the catamaran but stay where the seats are.

Hello Susana, thank you for your question. The water temperature is about 21/ 22 degrees, and the air temperature about the same. It's however recommendable to bring a jacket as it can be windy.
