This is a mostly empty small fort. There are staircases and corner 'turrets' to be explored. There is a small exhibition in some rooms. The main reason to visit for most people (children aside) would be to see the views and to experience the peace.
small entry fee for the small fort that is only a shell, however, there are good views from the top.

Very small entrance fee enabled us to explore different levels of the fort. Spectacular views over the sea and Funchal and a very peaceful atmosphere. Restaurant had restricted views so went to have a snack elsewhere but well worth a visit.
The Fort is OK, basically a stone shell, and admission includes a very informative sheet on its history. However, the important Museum of Modern Art has been moved out of the Fort to Casa das Mudas in the town of Calheta on the southwest shore...More
Not sure if it was worth 3euros, it is an empty fort with a few rooms of random art, kind of peaceful and lovely views of the sea and harbour. I suppose the money goes to upkeep, so I do not mind. A photo copy...More
A nice museum. Beautiful view, well kept buildings, clean. But we expected a little more description of the fort's history.
Not a good place to visit, since is an upscale restaurant. with restricted area. The area is good to take a walk.
