A very ornate church which is on main square not half way up road as shown on Google Maps. Worth a look.

The Igreja do Colégio Church, also known as São João Evangelista and is a Jesuit building of Manueline style of the 17th century. This beautiful church is located in the old town of Funchal. Entry fee- FREE.

Most ornate decoration inside, very good, many different scenes and saints depicted in full colour along each side as well as the impressive alter.

We only were able to 'look' in the front door as we just didn't have time, however, walking and taking pictures outside is well worth the walk by. Central in Madeira and close to the sea walk.
