We found the place easier to find than the entrance, which is up the road to the east side of the church. We were fortunate that although we did not go on a day when tours were provided Anna came to our rescue and gave...More

Beautifully decorated Church in the middle of Funchal - very atmospheric and worth a look - limited opening hours so best to check first.

Dropped into this peaceful church giving you some respite from the bustle and noise of the streets around. Decorated for a wedding so special to see. We are told that the 1 Euro trip up the tower is well worth it

Just passing by and decided to pop in. Interesting old building and would recommend the tower visit at only 1 Euro which gives some nice views over the town.

Whilst touring Funchal this church is worth a visit as my wife and I did. Not only is the interior interesting but for a small 1 Euro donation, you can climb the original rickety staircase all the way up to the roof and take in...More

If you start the tour near the harbour the first part of the tour is actually quite nice. It tours through the old town and town centre. After that the tour becomes dull and seems to be more a hotel pickup bus as it drives...More

We were just passing and the doors were open. We went inside and what a church. We were greeted by one of the students who offered use free audio sets to use. Very interesting. The students are very friendly and helpful.

The doors were open and we felt welcomed as we entered this lovely building. We aren't religious but were amazed at the gilding and decoration.

We very much enjoyed our walking tour of Funchal with Augustine. His English is excellent and he is very well informed. He is part of a programme whereby overseas students present the history and culture of Madeira. Excellent, not to be missed. Very reasonably priced

I'm sorry, I've no idea, but it might be worth contacting the students' association of Madeira University, as they provide English and Portuguese language guides and are knowledgable, good luck!
