We were just passing and the doors were open. We went inside and what a church. We were greeted by one of the students who offered use free audio sets to use. Very interesting. The students are very friendly and helpful.

The doors were open and we felt welcomed as we entered this lovely building. We aren't religious but were amazed at the gilding and decoration.

We very much enjoyed our walking tour of Funchal with Augustine. His English is excellent and he is very well informed.He is part of a programme whereby overseas students present the history and culture of Madeira. Excellent,not to be missed. Very reasonably priced

Try to get there when it is open( the hours are not reliable). Inside it is amazing with decoration on every surface.

Jesuits'college of Funchal is a beautiful building very interesting place to visit you can go right up to the top and look over Funchal town the views are amazing and also you can see the cruise ships which makes a good photo.

Had a guided tour round the towhall with Augustin Cochet....and it was very very good and competent. He speaks good English and explained a lot of historical things from Madeira and the Townhall After that I visited the Jesuits college.....you HAVE to go and support...More

One of Funchals historic buildings and well worth the visit. Very decorative Interesting building style is unlike most others in Funchal.

On a rainy day, we spent a couple of hours looking around this beautiful Jesuit church with it's elaborate carvings and art-work, as well as spending a quiet moment reflecting and praying.

I'm sorry, I've no idea, but it might be worth contacting the students' association of Madeira University, as they provide English and Portuguese language guides and are knowledgable, good luck!
