Easily accessible from the cable-car terminal at the summit. A very short, level walk leads to the start of the toboggan, which is overlooked by the church. There is a steep flight of steps up to the church, which has an interesting design, but there is a zig-zag path at the side for the less energetic. Well worth the climb... More

This Church is accessible after a short walk from the Cable car terminal. For those who cannot climb the steps there is a zig zag path up the side of the church which is easy to navigate. The Church has a rich history going back to the Last Tsar of Russia

If you are in Monte you might as well visit the church. It has an interesting history with a statue and tomb of Charles a Hapsburg Duke who died here in 1922. There are informative history boards around the church and its buildings. One of its features is the 74 steps up the church which penitants climb on their knees... More

The church is a short walk from the Monte cable car terminal and is just above the start of the sled run. The church itself is less than spectacular unlike the views that are seen from the rooftop. The narrow stairs to the roof are found just to the left side of the main entrance.

Got the cable car up to Monte and then after about 5 minutes walk you reach this pretty little church. Steep steps up to it but it's worth it. Very pretty. Free to enter. Once back outside the views are spectacular looking down upon Funchal. The toboggan run starts just below here too. Easy to idle away time here watching... More

We took the cable car most of the way up and then walked uphill for about 5-10 minutes to see the church. There was a service going on on the Sunday morning we were there, so we only peaked in to the church. The views from the front of the church are really spectacular. It's a short walk from the... Walked up the this Church on Easter Sunday evening & had a look around. Imressive inside & well kept. I'm So Grateful Jesus Died & Rose again & forgave my sin. I think places like this are a historic reminder of this. The bell tower was open for anyone to walk up, A great view.

A small old Church , THE Climb is worth THE bay view and THE interior has THE burriel chapel of Karel 1, last emperor of austria who lived here with his wife Zita and their children.
