This monastery absolutely exceeded our expectations! Low entrance fee, very friendly staff and interesten explanation through the audio guides! Stunning renovation of an extraordinary location! One of the highlights of our trip to Portugal.

Spend time inside the monastery (rococo church...) beautifully restored, and then even more time in the garden. Two walks : the short one is 45 minutes, the long one is 1h30... If you can, sleep at the Hospedaria.

A big monastery. where you can walk around, visiting the cloisters, the rooms and cells, the kitchen,..and, specially the church, with beautiful barocco chapels, outstanding choir and organ. For the visit get the useful audio-guide,

It is a little bit difficult to get to the Mosteiro de Sao Martinho de Tibaes without a car but well worth a visit. One could spend all day here wandering through the monastery and the beautiful gardens.

The Benedictine monastery of Tibães was the house mother of the monasteries of this order in Portugal and Brazil. We had a excellent scientific restoration with garndes farmland and gardens, with lakes, ponds and fountains.

a whole day it's not enough to visit and see all the beauties of this ancient Monastery. You will find history and will be able to enjoy the gardens and forest which surrounds the great Benedictine Monastery.
