We started our travel in Porto and today we’ve come to guimaraes for one night stay. It’s so relaxing, such a beautiful town with its wonderful preserved history and architecture. It’s definitely worth a visit! Don’t skip this place.

On one of the building, it says - Here Portugal was born. It makes the historic center important and touching, but beyond that, it is a lovely area.

So much to see and everything was so lovely. Even though it was raining the day we visited, we thoroughly enjoyed everything the "Cradle of Portugal" had to offer.

Me and my girlfriend visited the south of Portugal during springtime and the north of Portugal during the autumn. Both times it was very cool and windy in the country (best season probably is mid June to mid September). Still we enjoyed hanging out on...More

Other reviewers covered everything I might have said. I think this is a must-see and a significant advantage is that it’s less touristy than other places, even in beautiful September weather. For us this was a day trip but I would definitely stay a night...More

Guimarães is worth a visit, you will not regret spending a day here! We went to Guimaraes by train from Porto and we could do everything on foot. All attractions are close to each other. The historical center is interesting and different from other cities...More
