I never knew this place existed, I came here for an event, and I was told that it's nice, and was really surprised how fantastic and really cheap place this is.. The houses are different to what I've seen in other places and everywhere looks...More

Rented an apartment in the centre of this historic city for six nights. Did a few day trips to other spots but really enjoyed our time in the city. Duval Palace is a must see. Great assortment of restaurants all seemingly staffed by good people....More

A very warm and nice city. Very petit but very well preserved. Completely renewed in the XX Century so don't get your hopes to high if you think you'll see many many places from ancient times.

Guimarães is a very ancient city, it's where Portugal started as a country and where many battles and confrontations took place centuries ago in order to protect it from the outsiders that wanted to rule here. You can reach Guimarães by car, by bus but,...More

The historical centre of Guimaraes is one of the most charming we have been to. We enjoyed wandering around, getting lost in the maze of streets which beautifully showcase Guimaraes' historical past as the cradle of Portugal. We did not go to museums or into...More

Pretty as medieval towns goes - quite well preserved despite the people living in there and the hordes of tourists. Fun place to wander around and soak in the history of the place.

Spent a few hours wandering around and admiring the cute houses and shops. The gardens in the main square are beautiful. The historical part is compact and easy to walk around. Lots of photo opportunities of attractive medieval buildings.
