Other than Lisbon, it is hard to imagine where you would see so much Portuguese art in one place. Not all of it is world class, but much of it is memorable. The building itself is a pleasure to walk around. If you are into painting sculpture and ceramics, this is a great place to spend a few hours.

This was a lovely museum of Portuguese painters and sculptures and well worth a visit. spread over three flours takes about 2 hours to see all and the building is also well worth a look. Cafe on site and free first Sunday of the month, otherwise 5 Euro each. Very little translation to other EU languages.

We enjoyed this museum (which was nearly deserted when we visited), especially the 20th century Portuguese art. There were several interesting artists who we'd never come across before. Definitely worth the visit.

The National Museum is home to 19th and 20th century paintings, sculptures and fine examples of decorative arts. Very few visitors were around while I was there, which is unfair, because the museum is beautiful. But the uncrowded rooms enabled me to take a leisurely walk around the many interesting works of art. I particularly enjoyed a piece called "the... More

Accidentally dropped by this museum, ticket was 2.5 euro with a student card. The layout and decoration in the museum is a little lame but the content worths every penny. Some artefacts displayed were not captioned in English.

I visited this museum by myself in August 2016 as my wife, two children and relatives were not interested. The Museu Nacional de Soares dos Reis is best reached by taxi as it is a bit further from the center of Old Porto in terms of walking and taking a taxi can save you time. The museum was interesting and... More

Very good exhibiton and very impressive paintings specially coming for a painter that died with 30 years old in 1918. At the entrance of the exhibition do not loose 7 amazing paintings of Paula Rego.

This is an interesting eclectic mix of modern, 19th century and older art and artefacts. It is arranged over three floors with a decent shop and café. The garden is also worth a visit if the weather permits.

This museum is interesting in that it gives you a bit of a background for looking at Portuguese art. We did it and followed up with the art district - which was a great contrast. And the walk there revealed some interesting neighborhoods. Definitely go if you have the time - but don't expect a world class museum - just... More
