The relic altar piece on the side of this church is like nothing I've seen before. The craftsmanship on this golden masterpiece is so impressive that it will take you a good half an hour to appreciate its content. If you wish to see museum on the side you should be there before 3pm. The visit to the church lone... More

Loads of people walk past this fantastic little church. It's 4 or 5 flights of stairs down from the cathedral and is signed. It looks like a museum however it is a stunning church with a museum to veiw for extra inside the church. I will say that this is a truly spectacular interior and is a great place to... More

It is a magnificent historic Church near the "Sé" Cathedral. Its interior has a very simple type of décor which enhances the Church's beauty. It has a nearby site where the Sacred Art Museum is located. The sacred art collection is magnificently displayed and the art pieces very well chosen. Above all the extreme care and good taste shown in... More

Igreja (church) de São Lourenço / or commonly known as "Grilos" We did not have the time to visit the church, as we only passed by at night time. You should too, at least. Nice little square (Largo do Colégio - It's an ideal walk from the Porto Cathedral to the Ribeira waterfront). Walk up the stairs next to the... More

The 2nd of an eyecatching beauty. Not necessary from outside but certainly when you enter the building. Won't take much out of your day but it may leave you slightly breathless.

Beautiful church, hidden from the main touristic places due to its somewhat secluded location. A must see. And getting there is also quite fun!

The church itself is maginficent and the square in front of it deserves a look. Start walking at the Sé Catedral and go down the stairs until you find it! After the visit, keep walking down through the little alleys that lead you to the rua Mousinho da Silveira.

You can go down on steep steps, to this little hidden church. It is just beautiful. One of the nicest baroque churches in the city.

Hidden just a few steps away and below Se Cathedral . Unfurtunately this Igreja , like Se , was closed when we arrived there towards sunset . Not knowing of its existence we were estonished by its appearance suddenly , powerfull - yet calm in the soft light of the setting sun . We will , next time in Porto... More

Out of the beaten path, but still a few steps from Sé (cathedral) you find this beautiful barroque and neoclassical church. To understand why this church is one of my favourites in Porto you have to go there yourself...maybe because its interior is unique, with a magnificent light...and so peaceful...
