This museum is a bit hard to find, or at least it was for us, hidden on a side street next to the gardens. That said, we found it eventually, and though we were the only ones there, they had us wait twenty minutes before giving us our audio guide. I think in case anyone else showed up? Not sure,... More

Just a short walk from the Palácio de Cristal gardens, you will be surprised with this museum almost hidden in the middle of trees. Even though it is not that big, it is well preserved and all rooms are furnished and decorated, giving an idea of the lives in the XIX century. Audio guides are available.

A really nice, small but well preserved museum, which gives you insight on the lives of historical residents. Every room is a reconstruction of the room back in the past. You can get an audio guide to make things more interesting.

We went there without doing any research and were expecting more an art museum of romantic era. We did not still have any real expectations so visiting this little museum was a nice experience. Huge part of the it was a museum guide (or guard) who followed us when we were walking tour around the house listening audio guide. He... More

in combination with a walk through the nice Jardim do Palácio de Cristal it is surely worthwile to have a look into this museum, but do not make a deviation for the museum alone

I didn't have high expectation for the audio tour of this small house museum. It's located in the beautiful Crystal Palace park which is above it. The house has some wonderful stories and interesting furniture. If you like design, check it out.

The museum is quite nice and informative, even though it is badly named because it is not about Romanticsm. What made this museum special and quite strange, was the guard. She tried to keep a group of people together in the same room, so that she could keep an eye on everyone. So we all had to hear the same... More

Although it is not that easy to find, the Romantic Museum is hidden in the beautiful Crystal Palace Gardens (Jardins do Palácio de Cristal, near the domed Crystal Palace. The tickets cost €2,10 per person and admission is free if you have the Porto card. Upon entering we got the audioguides, which led us through each of the rooms -... More

The house was originally built for a merchant’s family before being bought by a port wine millionaire, Antonio Ferreira Pinto Basto, who transformed it into a summer house for his family. The Romantic Museum of Quinta da Macieirinha eventually passed into the hands of the state. It was fully renovated and opened to the public in 1972 with the intention... More

This is a reconstructed upper class interior from the 19th century and is much more interesting than you might think, it's a contrast to the grander monuments in town. I got a personal guided tour from a knowledgeable volunteer which was great. Quite an elegaic setting in the beautiful crystal palace garden area. The highlight was being able to watch... More
