I was hoping to see more of the old prison but unfortunately the upstairs is currently closed for renovation. Anyway the ground floor could be explored for free although its principal service is now for photographic exhibitions.

The "Antiga Cadeia da Relação" functioned previously as a prison for men and women and later on was split to accomodate a Court of Law. Nowadays it functions as the "Centro Português de Fotografia" (Portuguese Photography Centre) and displays various photography exhibitions and collections (namely, cameras, showing their evolution through time). It is a very beautiful building in itself, well... More
