Interesting fortress dating back to 1570 (completed in 1647). Contains the church of Sao Joao da Foz do Douro. Typical ramparts, watchtowers, archways and thick stone walls are all present in the construction. There are numerous rusted old cannons lying around. Located on a beautiful...More

The Fort is in on the open top tour bus and it is worth hopping off to view. not a lot to it but its is free and about 15 minutes should do it before getting onto the next bus which runs at 30 minute...More

An interesting little old fort in good structure. Not a lot to see inside but as it costs nothing and extends great views worth a walk round if you are close by

This old fortification is a short walk along the coast road from the final stop on the No 1 tram service from the City. Obviously easy to find and free to enter. Has been well preserved. Worth a visit if you aren't just wandering around
