We stayed at the Pousada located just above this church so we walked down to see what it was all about. The interior is cheerful and uplifting and the location with the view of the city and ocean should not be missed. You can take a tram up to it from the city, which is a fun thing to do.

The view is breathtaking. Has a good parking lot. We took a photo with the amicable man taking vintage photos and altough we hesitated inicially today I don't regret it. It's the best souvenir I could get from Viana.

The National Geographic magazine wrote ‘Santa Luzia is blessed with one of the world’s finest panoramas, perhaps bettered only by those of Funchal and Rio de Janeiro, both in Portuguese speaking countries’.....I agree !

The sanctuary itself is beautiful but the view is something else. A quick drive up the mountain is more than worth it.

This sanctuary is beautiful and worth the visit especially for the wonderful views of the city. You can climb one of the towers for a small fee. You can take the elevator from downtown up to the church. If you have a car you can also visit the hotel Pousada de Santa Luzia which has a very nice garden where... More

Very nice views from the top. Nice architecture outside and inside the Chappell. There is access to the top of the dome where the views of the town are priceless

We made a stopover there in the way to Oporto and it's really worth a visit because the views are amazing. The church is nice but small, we could visit the ceiling unfortunately the cupola was closed. As we were in a bit of a hurry we went there by car directly. Parking space is provided.

Great view and magnificent building. Even though inside is a little disappointed, the outside make it worthwhile. There is only one lift that take you to the very top. Careful to not take the other three that only take to middle away and doentes let you go to the top and price is the same. It's always good to walk... More
