If you are going to go, go all the way. We had a group of 7 and took the 5 day tour of many of the most historical sites in Greece. Elis was our driver and guide and hopefully is now a friend after 6 days with us as we also took the one day tour to the island of Aegina. My wife is still running at the original site of the Olympics in her dreams. The recommended hotels were all different and delightful with wonderful food; during the trip, Elis suggested restaurants that were top-notch. Take a tour of best sites on the mainland and Peloponnese all the while enjoying the scenery and leaving the driving to the professionals. Besides freeing you from the driving duties, these guides offer lots of interesting historical and cultural information along the way. I do recommend to upgrade to the larger van for comfort while traveling, it is most worth it. Don't just visit Athens, see the country.

We travelled as a family ( 2 adults and 2 kids) for a week tour in June 2019 in celebration of my husband’s 50th birthday. We worked with Nikos in advance to create a customized itinerary including Athens, Corinth, Mycenae, Epidaurus, Naplio, Olympia, Delphi, and Meteora. Our driver Spyros was excellent, particularly with our 10 & 12yo boys. He managed our schedule so that we were at the archeological sites at opening to minimize both heat and crowds. We travelled between cities in the heat of the day. Spyros utilized travel time to share additional site history and engage the kids with stories from Greek mythology. We utilized the private tour guides at the archeological sites, all arranged by Nikos and Spyros. Spyros was available to help with any issue - particularly translation!

5+++ stars for Private Greece Tours: our family of 4 (including two teens: 15 and 13 years old), did both the evening Cape Sounion tour and spent 5 days on the Classical Tour with George in late June of 2022. I began corresponding with Nikos in March, and all communication was clear, professional and friendly.
We could not have asked for a better driver/guide than George, and having a private driver while in Greece was pure luxury for us. My husband and I have traveled extensively: throughout North America where we live, 4 months of backpacking in Europe, a month each in China, Philippines, Japan, Egypt, Kenya/Tanzania, etc. We generally do everything on our own, or join small group tours when required. This was the first time we've done a private tour, but with teenagers and the difficulty in easily reaching places like Delphi, Olympia and Meteora, we decided a private driver would be worth the cost, and after the experience, I can truly say the value was certainly there.
George is super intelligent and well-read, explained all the sites and related background information with us, and discussed and debated Greek mythology and history with our 13 year old who has a vast interest in the subject. George would give options and suggestions on various routes or additional places to stop at (ocean or mountain route; another monastery or spend more time at a different historical site), and was constantly thinking of extra experiences for us such as making sure we visited mountain towns and had lunch at both the seaside towns and in remote places. He also made sure to book tables for us at restaurants so we could sit and have the best views, and tried to carry our luggage, which was ridiculous as we only had backpacks. George was also patient enough to teach us how to sound out Greek letters (all that math in university helps!). In other words, George took excellent care of us by making sure we had the fullest experience possible while touring his beautiful and amazing country.
We also booked guides through Nikos at Mycenae, Olympia and Delphi. All the guides were good (Zoe at Olympia was excellent), but I don't think the guide at Mycenae was worth the cost, while the guides at Olympia and Delphi certainly were. We booked the hotels as recommended by Nikos and were pleased with all of them. We also booked a return trip to the airport with Nikos, and our driver was everything we could rely on when booking with Nikos - on time, friendly, and professional. We could not have asked for a better vacation in Greece since we used Private Greece Tours, and highly recommend this company.

The main reason for our trip to Greece was to visit our daughter who is studying in Thessaloniki. For our situation, we already booked our flights to Athens and had an idea of what cities/sites we wanted to visit (Athens, Delphi, Meteora, Mount Olympus, and Thessaloniki).
We chose PGT based on the many positive reviews, as well as for the prompt and detailed responses from Nikos (PGT owner).
Our experience far exceeded the reviews we read! From the moment we met Spyros at the airport transfer, we knew we were going to have a fun trip and learn a lot! It was very reassuring to have a skilled driver to navigate the narrow and busy streets of Athens and other cities, as well as the highways in between. Spyros always made us feel safe and was a consummate professional. It is clear that he loves his job and takes it very seriously.
Spyros helped us to explore Greece using our itinerary, but added many special touches along the way that only an experienced local would know. Spyros was very organized and always got us to our destination on time; he dropped us off and clearly explained where we would find him at the end of our tour. He knew all of the best photo spots and took us to some extra historical sites along our journey that we did not know about. Spyros helped to make dining reservations for us and always made sure we got a great table. Nikos and Spyros both had great hotel recommendations.
Spyros is very well educated on Greek history and shared the background details along the way before we arrived at the next attraction.
For all of our time together Spyros told us this is our trip and he is there to accommodate whatever we want to see and do. But there was one time where Spyros insisted on changing the itinerary. He came up with a plan for us to see our daughter one day earlier than the planned schedule. Instead of hanging out in a small town for the evening, he insisted to drive us an hour (one way) to surprise her and spend a few hours together after we hadn’t seen her for 6 weeks. Spyros was as excited to make this happen as we were for our early reunion. It was a great moment for our family all thanks to Spyros’ generosity and thoughtfulness!
In addition to learning about Greece from Spyros, we had a lot of fun. Spyros truly epitomizes the saying that if you love what you do, you never work a day in your life!
We highly recommend PGT and will definitely request Spyros the next time we visit Greece!

We had Katherine (tour guide) and (George) driver for the private Athens tour. It would have been a challenging day for them- it rained heavily for most of the morning, and they did a very effective job of working around the weather. Katherine spend some extra time in the Acropolis Museum (during the heaviest rain) providing us will all sorts of additional information, and also prepping us so that when we DID go to the Acropolis, we were totally ready to see everything, and take pictures and make that time in the rain count. George, the driver, was also both very witty an knowledgeable, and they also pointed out many of the key places to know near our hotel, which came in handy the following days. I'd recommend them highly.

I can’t say enough about PGT. From my first interaction with Nikos while I was planning our trip from home in the U.S. Nikos was quick to respond, always responsive to what I was asking and once we finalized our itinerary the finalization of our reservations was quick and easy.
Upon landing in Athens we were greeted by Dominick. A big man with a huge smile and an even bigger heart. We were traveling with our two young sons (9&12) and Dominick had the perfect touch to keep them engaged and bond with them right from the start.
Dominick was our designated driver/guide for our entire stay. A detail that obviously Nikos understands. When we clicked with Dominick our greatest fear was we would have someone different. Not the case. Nikos was sure to keep us with Dominick the whole week. He was so knowledgeable, entertaining and we always felt safe and secure in all of our various adventures.
Each day PGT had provided a private tour guide for the sites we went to. Each one of them had obviously been personally selected and each one of them was knowledgeable and entertaining.
Once done at the sites we would visit towns and Dominick would provide us with great recommendations for restaurants or ice cream or shopping.
PGT is best in class and if their other drivers are even half as special as Dominick you can’t go wrong. We loved Greece and PGT was a huge part of delivering that experience.

The Mr and I recently enjoyed a four day tour with Private Greece Tours. Because the Mr. will be having hip replacement surgery soon, he currently suffers from limited mobility.
Dominic, our driver, made things so much easier for him, by providing door to door service, and carrying our bags.
We saw so many amazing sites, stayed in fabulous hotels (chosen by PGT), learned new things, both from Dominic and the guides PGT had waiting for us at some of the sites,
(our cost), and was able to see beautiful coastlines, cute little towns, and enjoy mountain views and gorgeous scenery, all while on the way to ancient archeological sites.
To us, eating locally is a huge perk of travel. Dominic made excellent restaurant recommendations at each of our four nightly stops, and we had some delicious, authentic dinners each night.
I’ve done many DYI trips before, but nothing compares to the added value a local experienced guide and driver provide.
Additionally PGT was able to arrange for transport to both Piraeus when we landed and a ride to the airport on our departure day for a reasonable price. Sypros started and ended our trip on a high note!
Finally, Nikos was easy to work with and very responsive during the booking process.
I have nothing but praise for Private Greek Tours!

Our family of four (kids are 21 and 19 years old) had a 1/2 day tour with Nikos' company. Our driver, George, and personal guide, Katerina, both met us at our hotel right on time and off we went for a combination driving tour of Athens, along with visits to the Acropolis and other sights.George and Katerina have great chemistry as a duo, are born and raised in Greece and it is evident how proud each of them is of their homeland. The information they provided was spot-on and the private tour allowed the flexibility to do and see what we desired on our schedule.
In spite of the driving rain we encountered all day, George and Katerina were unfazed and readily prepared to make schedule adjustments on the fly - along with providing a great suggestion for lunch at the end of the tour. Our family has been fortunate to travel to many countries/cities with a private tour in each and Nikos' company has been one of the best - we highly recommend this company.

We initially booked a Napflio/Delphi/Meteora trip and later added a half day trip to Temple of Poiseidon while driving towards Athens. Nikos responded very quickly to both requests and confirmation given within a short time. We have a wonderful driver, Foivos who make sure we have a memorable trip.There are about 4 hours drive between Napflio/Delphi/Meteora and he will make stops at places with nice view. He also share the histories of each sites before and after the visits. We definitely recommend their services.

Best choice for a private tour in Athens. We looked at dozens of options and eventually decided on this private tour run by Nikos. He was open, honest, and responsive in the upfront planning stage. Then on the tour itself of Athens, Sakis (our driver) and Katerina (our guide) were fantastic. The car was comfortable and Sakis was always there waiting for us and Katerina was not only a wealth of knowledge, but she was fun to tour with. At each site while other large tours, and even some smaller private tours were moving by, she took her time explaining a lot of fascinating background details that helped us to better appreciate each stop. She brought with her a book with pictures to help explain the history and details. We never felt pressured or pushed and yet, we were able to see all of the key sites that we hoped to visit. Great tour. I definitely would recommend getting a licensed guide and driver as it is well worth the extra cost to have the personalized attention and help at each site. I don't think we could have found a better combination!
