A stunning place, that with a proper guide (we had Onoufrios for the day), really brings to life everything you learnt at school. To be standing in the foot prints of the people who among many things fathered democracy, the arts and a culture that exists to this very day. Stunning and a do-not-miss experience.

Agora ("the market") in Athens combines new and old and gives the tourist as well as the locals a memorable experience. Stroll the streets and discover all sorts of shops and stores from jewellery to clothes, shoes to music and of course restaurants, bars and coffee places. Allow yourself plenty of time to wonder around and make sure you relax... More

Agora is the best! Great walking around, grass and trees make the place even better than the Acropoli + both the Stoà and the temple are amazing! Nice to go with children too, although not good for prams - wear comfortable shoes

Had a lovely wander here although getting into the site is a mission, only gate at 1 side of the site. It has SO much history and wandering around is fabulous, thinking of ancient history and the architecture of what it would have looked liked would have been amazing!

We went to Agora early in a morning . It was a Christmas time. It is nice to be around ruins when nobody around you. Agora is Forum of Athens. "Agora" in Greek literally means "a place of gathering" and the Agora of Athens was the heart of Athenian life in Ancient times. For centuries It served as a busy... More

The streets and buildings, while in ruins, are still set up the way they were 2500 years ago. People, (PEOPLE!) walked the streets and talked to neighbors and bought goods and services. The ancient greeks were the precursors to western civilization, and here they walked. The area is enormous, you can spend a day here.

the ancient agora was probably one of my favorite parts of athens, it was beautiful and very relaxing. i enjoyed being able to see a park since athens is all so squished together. it is worth it just to walk through. it is worth it if you are a history nerd because it gives you a sense of what ancient... Nice to walk past remains of history, ponder what it was like to go shopping here- were there live animals for sale? fresh produce? slaves? All interesting.
