The National Gallery is undergoing renovation and we had to make our way to the suburbs to find the relocated gallery. It was a bit tricky to find but once we did it was well worth the visit. There is some great sculpture and there are great English information boards. The pictures are also very interesting especially the 20 th... More

You can visit this museum to the heart of Athens. It has a great variety of master's works. The most interesting is the permanent collection with a lot of master pieces? My favoured are the paintings of Nico Hatzikyriako Ghika. You can find also paintings of the best Greek artists.

All art lovers should visit this gallery. Not the best location, and a dull-looking building from the outside, but work exploring inside. Modern art, 19th century and some older. Greek artists predominate.

I am stunned that there are so few reviews about the National Gallery. Although I was underwhelmed with the temporary exhibition, the permanent one was great. There are renaissance paintings to modern paintings, Greek and foreign painters. There was even a Picasso, but it was stolen last year. It's less than 5 minutes from metro station Evangelismos and the general... More

If you walk for about a mile west of Parliament, you come to the National Gallery of Art ( not well marked, so ask.) The first floor of the museum is the borrowed collection with Cezannes, money's and Gaugins. The lower floors hold the Greek artists-fantastic assortment of the Greats and the novices. Also, several exhibiting artists are on lowest... More

This is a disappointingly small gallery. On top of that, the first floor was closed. The artists on display did not match those advertised in guide books. However, there were some nice pieces and it was good to see the work of some Greek artists I had never heard of. 6.5 euros entrance charge is a bit steep

This is a beautiful gallery. It's not as big as some galleries abroad (about 3 floors) but it has some beautiful paintings that have been very influential in Greek culture (Greek kids will recognize many of them from their school books!). My favorite part is the 20th century paintings, where you can discover some important Greek modern or abstract painters,... More
