We took the train Saturday night, starting at the Plaka. You pay 5 euros for about 45 or 50 minutes, though that includes a time between trains at Syntagma. You don't get much history from the guide. One or two sentences per stop. Don't take...More

Train left on time we were really excited at the beginning. Unfortunately the tour is not even worth 5 euros. Impossible to understand the lady talking on the microphone explaining about the differents sites. We couldnt wait to leave the train so we got out...More

Having been in Athens for two weeks (relocated) walking around the centre and seeing the sights we decided to take the happy train tour of the city. Great idea but what a waste of money, the supposed tour guide onboard spent more time smoking and...More

I would recommend Athens Happy Train to families with young children or senior citizens, who would like to throw a quick glance to some of the city's landmarks, such as the Parliament, the Byzantine and War Museums, Zappeion, Olympeion and the neighbourhood of Plaka, sitting...More

I took my 5 year old on this despite the terrible reviews because #1 it was inexpensive and #2 he really wanted to go. It was cool and breezy and pleasant. The guide was hard to understand but quite smiley. Overall, worth the 8€.

Having used this several times previously, I was very disappointed that it no longer visits Monastiraki. The hour long trip was basically to Plaka and the Acropolis hill, it appeared to cross the same sections at least 3 times to use up the time.

Very disappointed. Being practical, I understand traffic is not something the business can control. But being friendly, providing what is offered is in its control. What was offered was an old train, minimal narrative, and a hasty process.

I guess they totally forgot their name was the happy train. The lady had this bitter attitude all the time. Not happy at all. Barely gave information (I'm not sure about her English level). She talked through the microphone during the ride but I'm not...More

"an amazing sightseeing tour in the historical center of Athens and the capital's most famous ancient sights and monuments, hop-on the Athen" NO! We got on the train as it was leaving, so we were told, in daylight. We left much later in the dark....More

Probably the most excruciating little train ride I've ever been on. We were told it would start in a minute and it took half an hour to get going. No commentary, freezing cold, and boring. We got excellent views of car parks and car rental...More

Perhaps the best place to get your bearings is
Syntagma Square, crowned by the imposing Parliament
building on its upper side and surrounded by other
large structures, such as the exclusive Hotel Grande
Bretagne. The grand avenues that lead towards Omonia
are also full of massive Neoclassical edifices like
the Numismatic Museum and those around smaller Platia
Kolokotroni. Here you will find lots of travel agents,
