Outstanding Byzantine art. Tranquil oasis in a laurel grove - hence the name "Daphni". Check opening times. It would be such a pity to make the short trip from the city to find the site closed.

It's a small church, with maybe 20 partially restored beautiful mosaic scenes, and a wonderful head of Jesus (remarkably similar to the one in Cefalu, Sicily) in the dome. They won't let you take photos, which is a pity, but it's very much worth seeing....More
