I enjoyed wandering around this lovely area of narrow little lanes with its interesting looking buildings.

It is a must see in Athens. We loved wandering and getting lost between old village houses. Not so busy comparing to Acropolis....

Do it, but take a map, Easy to get lost. Lovely houses, but especially nice in early evening in summer when the flowers are blooming.

Getting lost in these winding, narrow alleyways is my idea of paradise. Don’t carry a map. Just roll with it.

The best place to go in the centre of Athens either for coffee, food, or just a walk. It's perfect for families and couples. The scenery is magical and the streets have much to "tell" you about the mystical and architectural splendor of Athens.

The real value of this neighborhood comes if you're willing to work your way back a bit, further away from the Acropolis. There you can find a more residential area with fewer tourists and more (warm, kind) Greeks. We stumbled upon a farmers' market with...More

Historic neighbourhood occupying the northern Acropolis Hill slope. Slightly 'islandic'- name derived from Anafi. Athens in it pre-Bavarian (=> 1830 state) was a small place with the 'volcanic' antiquities and the Anafiotika was a workers' village. The islanders had come from Anafi and were involved...More

Be prepared that many places that your gps takes you to are closed. The ones that are open - mostly with outside seating, which is not ideal with over 100 degrees.

This cute old neighborhood has been built at the northern slopes of Acropolis. Most of the workers building the houses here were coming from the Greek island Anafi, Therefore, this place was mentioned as "Anafiotika", which means "Little Anafi" in Greek. Don't miss to spare...More

Anafiotika is a taste of Greek Island architecture in the heart of Athens. Very confusing to navigate, but enticing and alluring -especially during the night. I strongly recommend a walk around the area. There's a lot of stairs, so be prepared. However, there're also a...More

Hi Anafiotika is not on the side of the Acropolis where the museum is. It's on the Plaka side. Adrianou is the main shopping street in the Plaka. If you climb the narrow streets towards the Acropolis and above the Agora... More
