The orthodox Greek Church on a winter evening is a warm and beautiful place to be. The music & the mass was presented in an holistically resonating energy. The grandeur of the architecture was simple magnificent and from angle was overwhelming. A must visit for...More

We visited this church expecting to see a huge Cathedral, just like the ones we have seen in places such Milano, Rome, Paris, Seville, Madrid and many others. What a surprise, then, when entering to see how small it actually is. It looks rather largish...More

The Catherdral is the head of all the Greek Othrodox churches around the country. I enjoyed watching pilgrims arrive to pay their homage. The cathedral itself is imposing but beautiful with many relics.

For anyone who likes churches or beautiful ceilings this shouldn't disappoint. The walls and ceilings are stunning, with lovely stained glass windows adding colour. Entry is free.

Inside, this is one of the smallest Cathedrals that I have seen with just 120 seats, but it is beautiful to see, with some lovely plain coloured windows and other intricate features, and a huge coloured dome. Outside, the large square lends itself to the...More

Beautiful church in central Athens, in Mitropoleos Square. Finally the construction is over and the scaffolding is down! This is a "must see" in Athens. Even if you only stop in for a few moments, you must visit.

We passed by the cathedral so took a look in. Very beautiful Orthodox Cathedral inside, not much information but it is free entry and worth stopping by.

Located right in the heart of the Plaka area. Beautiful cathedral with awesome architecture. Services are held on Sundays. Lots of places to buy items relating to religion located very near the cathedral. Nice places surrounding for a coffee, most frequented by locals.

It is such a nice cathedral in the middle of Athens. The square is also very nice in front of it! It does not matter whether it is daytime or night time this cathedral is so elegant like a woman! :-)

It's got a rather corporate-sounding name but this cathedral, built in the mid-1800s, is the parish of the head of the Greek Orthodox religion. It's not a very imposing building in terms of size, and certainly not grand in the style of other large cathedrals...More

Plaka
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains
the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay

squares, some notable museums and the beautiful
Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to
stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a
pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious
traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a
