Cathedral visit

Lovely old building, interesting and worth a visit. Well cared for. There is a dress code as one would expect in buildings of this nature.

A very impressive building close to the centre of town and easy to see. Its history is just as interesting as the rest of Crete.

This cathedral is beautiful (from the outside). I haven't been inside but even just looking at it from the outside is worth it. Some cafes nearby to sit and look at the cathedral from (although I haven't tried them so can't comment on them!).

If you have extra time and want to get a good look at the Orthodox churches in the region, this is beautifully appointed and worth the time to have a moment's peace and light a small candle...

He may have been born, raised, died in Egypt, never visited this city in his lifetime but he did visit after his death(so that he would hunt the Turks who were planning to slaughter those praying inside the church)

I rather liked this Cathedral, which is quite small, and not old as the previous buildings have been destroyed by earthquakes. Has some striking, but probably not very exceptionally well painted murals.

This is a very interesting Cathedral, and if you are CoE and find Catholic churches different, this is definitely a notch above that! VERY decorated, extremely cluttered and full of beautiful surprises from relics to effigies. The painted ceiling and vault are a must see! There was some nonsense about no shorts inside, but there was no staff there so... More

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and no doubt there is always someone who has seen bigger and better. This is a place of special interest to me, as two of my friends were married here. It is small for a cathedral, but there are some lovely frescos and icon examples. The occupying forces planted a bomb to... More

I have visited this place few times and I want to visit it again. Very beautiful inside and outside and not far from the centre of the city.
