Tuesday 19th July 2016. The title says it all for us - the castle itself is quite small, what sets it apart is the lovely setting, so if you are passing by it is worth a stop - even just to wander down to the...More

Visiting the castle gives you very nice views of the town, coastline and sea. The castle itself is nice to stroll around in, but nothing special. During the summer I would recommend to visit in the evening as there is little shade.

Old Fortress, over-viewing Rethymno, but nothing special to note except nice walk and view. There is amphitheater with some trees, very nice to sit and chat. Maybe there are some interesting stories related, but we didn't heard. Small payment on entrance.

This is an ancient fort build to protect the city. You have to pay to get inside to see, and there's not much see except from the view, walls and an old Mosque / Church. But its actualy nice to have seen it :-)

Fun afternoon activity of walking around the ruins and the views of the island and water are stunning.

Worth a walk up for good views over the coastline and town but there isn't much to see at all in the Fortezza.
