Enjoy the sights. Enjoy a drink and people watch. Fabulous place to do a bit of shopping and see the locals as well as the tourists.

My only regret is not having enough time to tour this city as I would have liked! So many beautiful narrow streets, old and new markets, appealing restaurants.. do allocate a day or two in this beautiful town. You will not regret it :)

The old town is narrow streets paved with history. Every turn you take you find there is something to catch your eye, beautiful architecture, lovely souvenirs, smiling faces especially at Yog-inn and feel jewellery. There is also a painters shop across the road from it that...More

A magical city with a very distinctive architecture influenced by the Venetians and the Turks who had occupied it in the past. If you love Chania, you will love Rethymno too, because it is very beautiful and atmospheric. A lot of wonderful and tasteful restaurants,...More

I did a coach trip here, which (of course) left us in the "old town" area, which is also the most touristic. But - unlike Chania, which is clearly geared for tourists - this felt a little less overtly "sellinhg stuff", and a little more...More

We spent 4 nights here and it was delightful. Fun place to walk around. Loaded with shops and restaurants. Much to choose from. The streets are cobblestone, buildings old, very charming. The shops stay open into the evening, which is convenient especially if you were...More

Rethymno is a great town to visit. A good mix of culture and trashy, because we all like the odd seaside bar every now and again but really appreciate the pedestrianised mediterranean old towns with cafe bars, narrow passages and amazing little squares. Great for...More

Although the old town is very nice, it is also very touristic. In general restaurants are over-priced, and better to be avoided. One or two exceptions

This is a wonderful place, full of little alleyways. There are some very good places for taking picture-postcard snaps. There is a wide range of shops, bars and restaurants. We enjoyed strolling round in the evenings; it was particularly magical in places.

The old town has marvellous winding streets with little shops selling various good, but mainly restaurants and cafes. Although there were many tourists it was there wasn’t a tourist feel. All in all a pleasant walk in an old environment.

The port area itself is very crowded with restaurants tables and might be very difficult to handle with a wheel chair . the rest of the streets are manageable.

I think that this hotel is a good choice, if you do not care that the beach is near. I prefer hotels that are near the beach but also close to the city center. In any case, I recommend that in addition to spending time on... More
