Excellent beach if you stay in the Akro beach bar area. It is protected from the strong winds and there is a cave just a few meters from shore.

I caught the boat from Akrotiri for €5. It takes about 30 mins to hop from the Red to the White and finally to the Black. The Red Beach is a tiny strip populated by lots of people and is best viewed from the water so you can the impact of the cliffs. The White Beach is a tiny cove... More

After having visited the other beaches this one came as a revelation. Not so busy, great loungers for a really decent price. Plus at Akro you get full service at the beach. You can reach ut either by boat or by car on a dirt track.

Beautiful small beach with in my opinion the best taverna on the island. Authentic with a capital 'A'. Probably only a dozen tables. Fish cooked outside in what looks like a pizza oven. You can watch the chef put some fish and shrimps on the grill then lovingly watch over them until they are ready to eat. Brilliant.

Search this one out. Mesa Pigada can be reached via a windy dusty track sign posted enroute to Faros. There are a couple of eateries. The upmarket Aryo and Taverna Mesa Pigada. Both have loungers for hire. The taverna sells authentic greek fayre at reasonable prices - in my view one of the best on the island. Be warned though... More

This is the place where the locals go, and that should tell the whole story. Run by a lovely family, you can get home made stuffed tomatoes, moussaka, and barbequed fresh fish. Yes, they catch their own fish on the lake and cook it for you. Does it get better than that? This is an interesting drive down from Faros,... More

This beach is situated down a steep and rutted dirt track so prepare for a bumpy ride in anything but a jeep or quad bike. However once you get there you find a tranquil and not so busy beach. Sunbeds are free if you eat in the adjacent taverna and the beach is a even mixture of black sand and... More

We didn't have a car but this didn't stop us from getting to Mesa Pigadia. Our transfer bus drove us as long as the paved road would take us and then we walked 10 minutes down to the beach. There are sun beds to rent and a lovely tavern if you get hungry. The snorkeling is ok, not to much... More

This is a beach accessible on foot or with a vehicle on a bumpy and dusty road - preferably by car with windows closed (enormous clouds of dust form outside). Where the road ends there is a nice tavern - Taverna Mesa Pigadia (see my review of it) with enough parking space next to it. It seems that the beach... More
