We travelled to Kardamena from Kefalos by taxi then took the boat from there to Nisyros, Unfortunately we made a bad decision as it would have been cheaper to go with an organised coach trip from Kefalos. Nisyros is truly a beautiful island which is unspoilt & typically Greek. It's almost like going back in time. A bit smelly due... More

We took a day tour from Kardamena to visit the island and the crater Stefanos. The boat ride is about and hour or more but well worth the trip. The small village at the sea is very quaint and quiet with a number of sites to see. Once off the boat you can easily walk much of the town through... More

We visited this island whilst on a tour. It is small and very beautiful. Everything is so quaint . The streets are very narrow and the buildings are so close it is like being in a maize . The shops and tavernas are small and lovely . The place is well worth a visit.

We made the reservation via our hotel with Harriet travel, but did not join a guided tour. They reserved a car for us upon arrival and it was great. Very easy directions, you cannot get lost. The volcano was not as smelly as i expected, and definitely a once in a lifetime experience. Take a bottle of wayer with you... More

We took a boat over from Kardamena (takes about one hour) to the beautiful volcanic island of Nisyros as part of an organised tour. The island was born from the sea as a result of volcanic eruptions and is still an active volcano today. Don't let that put you off. Locals have lived here for hundreds of years and don't... More

If you do visit Kos and want to do one trip off the island there are choices a three island tour,a trip to Bodram in Turkey but my choice would be the island from Karamena. The boat trip gives you an insight to what crossing the Agean must have been like way back in classical times.I made this trip in... More

The volcano itself is a place worth seeing, but - for me - just to check it as "been there, saw it". But the Nisyros town is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen - an absolute must go!

Gorgeous island with lots to see, people are so friendly and happy to help. I picked up loads of traditional Greek products here. Defiantly worth a visit.
