Big site with lots of mosaic floors. Takes a while to cover the area and some parts are a bit tricky to get to, but well worth walking around.

Around this time of the year, the museum and the archeological site are not busy. Walking around the site (after having visited the museum) gives a great idea of how life must of been here during the kingdom of Alexander the Great.

The archeological site from where the mosaics are at the Archeological Museum of Pella, presented partly as copies, partly as transported originals. I was adviced to visit the museum first and can fully confirm that it paid off to first learn about the findings, see...More

It's easy to find, right off the highway, and as you drive into town follow the little "museum" signs until you get there. The museum is excellent - one of the best I've seen in terms of layout, scope, information, and artifacts. Definitely go there...More

A bit of a disappointment to visit the site which has been partially excavated with many buildings uncovered as well as some fantastic mosaic floors. The originals are in the local museum which is great.

Not much to see really at the site itself, ruins but some mosaic, some columns, and you get the feel of the layout, of the town as it was. Much much more interesting is the museum with all they found at the digs, the artefacts,...More

Anyone who knows anything about Ancient Greece knows Alexander the great was a huge influence on the ancient world. To visit his birth place was absolutely awe inspiring. Pella has stood for over 7000 years. You can still mark its layout but unfortunately most of...More

Be careful using Google to get here; it tried to take us off-roading through corn fields. Once we got there, it was worth it. The museum is new, modern, and very well done. The site itself looks like Jurassic Park after the dinosaurs got loose....More

I was here many years ago, but it has changed a lot. They have opened a new museum, which houses many of the famous mosaic floors, and a plethora of various other finds from the site. The site is huge, and you can easily spend...More

The archaeological site and museum at Pella are definitely worth the trip. The archaeological site has been fairly extensively excavated. There are other sites in Greece where you can see more complete reconstructions, but this is the capital of ancient Macedonia and the hometown of...More
