What was rather annoying on our second visit was being shushed by the priest for exchanging a single remark about the artwork - we were the only two people in the room at the time. Yet when a Greek family of visitors entered, the priest...More

I am not usually so interested in visiting the Greek monasteries because they are generally quite modern inside (1800s). I go to Greece each year for the rich history of ancient archeological sites rather than the relatively newer (architecturally speaking) things. However, this world heritage...More

Fascinating look back into the Byzantine era. The monastery was commissioned by Constantine himself. Very nice archaelogical site. Word of caution roads are treacherous and google maps did not prove helpful.

This Monastery is located in a spectacular and isolated area of the island. The views, vistas and scenery along the way are very impressive. As you get to the site you'll find the Monastery in various stages of repair and worthy of spending a lot...More

A lovely drive in nature takes you to this amazing place. Sad to see that a recent earthquake has damaged this beautiful church and this is why there is a some work being done to restore it. You will love it!

The location of the monastery is scenic. It was once a very rich monastery and the wall mosaics are very beautiful. Do take your time to visit but ask for the opening hours for visitors.

A very mystical and relicious place for Christians. Nice old two Churches. Very nice view of the valley and the sea from the top of the mountain.

Worth visiting, bring a shawl or over shirt. The walk is nice and it’s undergoing renovation, makes you appreciate sacrifices made in the name of religious beliefs.
