We visited in the fall and it was perfect weather for a long walk around the castle, seaside, cliffs, and forests. They were working on a new visitor center. So, we will return in 2019 to see that and spend a week or two.

The Hammershus is a nice old castle ruin. It is nice to take a hike through the older gardens of the castle.
The even nicer part is to have a pick nick in the old castle with a view towards the sunset over the water....More
Attractive castle ruzins and the coast are worth a visit. As well dont forget to stop in the visitor center. There are some great exibition and building itself is very attractive, mostly built underground.
Great views of the sea and forests from the top of the ruins. Amazing old structures. Has a Parking lot nearby but you’ll need to pay for parking. Also has a fine visiting center where you can buy ice cream food and other refreshments.
