The way to restore a place like that is to make it live again. The art gallery upstairs is small but well worth visiting as they have unique exhibits for limited space and time. 20 minutes is enough.

This place is amazing! I had read about it, however I nearly walked past it! I went in and visited the tourist information. The guy was very friendly and helpful, he gave me loads of leaflets and suggestions with what to do. I walked around...More

Inspiering to find what is possible to get from and old coal poweplant! Instead of demolishment Aalborg has transformed it into an arena for their inhabitants. Restaurants, cinema, tourist information, gyms, kindergarten, meeting facilities and more.

Old power plant turned into a multi-functional cultural center. Aalborg University, edical services, sports centers, music school, a small art cinema, the local tourist center and some restaurants share a large volume of space. Often arrangements in the old generator hall, food market, design sale,...More

Loved the 'beach' on the ground floor, complete with recorded sounds of the sea and deck chairs. Kids there were having a ball playing in the sand and with the equipment provided. Also went to a conference dinner on the second floor. Not sure if...More

Nordkraft is a beautiful building in the center of Aalborg. It is full of shops and restaurants, moreover there is also the Tourism office. Something there are vintage markets, concerts and they are nice and well organized.

The inside of the building has been gutted (and looks it). Go up to the 4th floor and there's an agreeable, unpretentious cafe/bar which will serve you decent food and a bottle of beer (try the elderberry one). An excellent choice for a budget lunch.
