About
Copenhagen's Nyhaven, or "New Harbor," is actually steeped in a long heritage. Colorful buildings line the canal and hint at a history of small-vessel traffic. Like many ports, this strip has a salty history, rich with sailors, drinking and literary exploits. Danish author Hans Christian Andersen made his home in Nyhavn as well. It's cleaned up now and is a lovely place for a stroll.

The area
Neighbourhood: Indre By (Inner City)
This is the heart of old town Copenhagen, with its blend of charming old buildings and bold new architecture, broad avenues and tiny streets as well as picturesque canals and a modern harbor. The inner city is home to the Royal Danish Theatre, which consists of three buildings, two of which are new and situated on the harbor front. The streets, squares and venues of the inner city and its surrounding neighborhoods, are alive all year round with everything from jazz festivals to outdoor ice skating rinks and parachuting at the lakes right in the center of the city. This compact area boasts beautiful old castles, tranquil parks, and bustling squares where you can always find a bench to stretch out your legs whenever you need a break.

    Must See
A beautiful area of Copenhagen with colorful buildings set along the canal. It’s a quintessential photo backdrop. Cafes line the area and serve food and drinks. It’s possible to eat outside here even in the winter as the cafes offer heated seats, heat lamps and blankets.

Pretty Houses, Start of Canal Trips and Cleanest Public Toilets Ever!
The title says it all. Boat trip from Nyhavn is interesting and gives a wider perspective of the City. Little Mermaid better appreciated on foot. Not joking about the loos, I braced myself before entering these as they looked 'Victorian', I was expecting a gross British loo and shocked at how immaculate, clean and sparkly it was (typical Copenhagen). My wife ran up to me afterwards after visiting the ladies and I've never seen her so excited. She even photos! But Nyhavn itself is rather lovely and picturesque.

    Lively and colorful
Beautiful harbour. Lively and cozy at the same time. The restaurants are many and varied but a bit expensive. Wonderful place for a stroll with a beer, a camera, a handful of fries or your best buddy in hand.

    Got to go here
Second time to Copenhagen. This area is a great place to visit. Walking around easy or bike you can go further. Alot of cycle routes but alot of old cobbled roads too. This area is busy but great for atmosphere and food and drink. We took a boat trip. Well worth doing. We took the boat at the side of the harbour half price of the other same trip.

    Wow!
Wow! Just wow! Yes, the weather was sunny so we were Ewing this place in it’s full glory but it’s so beautiful. I just love the colour and history of all those amazing buildings. The cafes and restaurants are a bit pricey and the vegetarian options are a bit poor but you don’t have to eat or drink to take in the fabulous atmosphere.

    nyhavn
It's a tourist hotspot, but also one of my favorite places to walk around in Copenhagen. The restaurants are quite pricey, so grab a snack and bring it to the water front. The houses here are iconic and this is the photo you see on every guide book for Copenhagen. The write Hans Christian Andersen lived in House #20!

Despite the hype it doesn’t disappoint
We knew what to expect from the many photos we had seen but got to say it still impressed ! Difficult to get in the cafes as they were always full but we did like the locals and sat with the drinks we had brought with us at the side of the canal . Great atmosphere,. Veer right at that end over the bridge with the cycle lanes and walk into area which is perfect for street food and drinks , music playing and more beautiful views

Nyhavn a madhouse on Sunday Afternoons
We visited Nyhavn this afternoon on a SUnday when the sun was out for awhile. It was a madhouse of people. A lot of them wanted to go on the boat tours. Each boat was filled with people. The activities are eating, milking a beer, and walking the streets taking pictures along with boat tours. It's nice but be prepared to get slammed with a Lot of other people who want to go also.

    Well worth a visit
This bustling part of the city is a must see with its colourful buildings, many lovely looking cafes and restaurants with stalls selling lots of different things. The canal that runs alongside this is the hub for canal tourist boat trips to go and see the other great sights Copenhagen has to offer. Lovely place

It is the oconoc part of copenhagen.
Beautiful colorful buildings from the 17th century looking over the water.
You can get a boat as a tour and there are multiple restaurants where you can sit and enjoy the view

Very pretty in day and nightime. Not much to do unless your getting a boat ride or eating in one of the restaurant. But great place to go to get that Danish colourful building pictures.

Nyhavn. The postcard pictures of Copenhagen? This is it. A 17th-century waterfront, canal and entertainment district lined by brightly coloured townhouses and bars, cafes and restaurants. We found this spot to be the most beautiful place in Copenhagen, and managed walks here at all different times of the day - morning, afternoon, evening and night. 🏘️

Nyhavn is an absolute gem of a destination! Its picturesque charm makes it the perfect spot for a leisurely daytime exploration. The colorful buildings lining the canal create a postcard-perfect scene that's sure to enchant any visitor.

One of the highlights of Nyhavn is the canal tours that start from here. These tours add an extra layer of charm to the area, allowing visitors to admire the beauty of Copenhagen from a unique perspective.

I highly recommend visiting Nyhavn for a relaxed and enjoyable experience, especially when the sun is shining. Whether you're strolling along the canal, enjoying a meal at one of the cozy cafes, or simply taking in the vibrant atmosphere, Nyhavn never fails to impress.

Overall, Nyhavn is a must-visit destination for anyone exploring Copenhagen. Its timeless beauty and vibrant energy make it a standout attraction that's not to be missed!

Lovely place to go for lunch. Lots of very nice looking restaurants. Weirdly the public toilets are worth a visit- I know that makes me sound a bit weird but trust me they are very historic and beautiful place for a wee.
