For hundreds of years the Danes were an unstoppable force of warriors,...

For hundreds of years the Danes were an unstoppable force of warriors, explorers and settlers – uniting Scandinavia, discovering America and bringing terror to the shores of Europe. Today Copenhagen’s history of fire and bloody battles lies hidden behind picturesque streets and colorful harbors. As the days of conquest passed, Danish power was replaced with a rich cultural legacy of writers, artists and philosophers. The fairytale feel of the city where Hans Christian Andersen wrote is the home of incredible stories and unbelievably true histories: Viking adventurers; pirate-hunting Bishop Absalon; daring Danish WWII resistance fighters and more. Our local expert guides will take you on a 3 hour walking tour through 6000 years of Copenhagen’s history and you’ll find out why the Danes are some of the happiest people in the world!

Some months ago I visited Copenhagen and did this tour. Luckily, life brought me back to Denmark but this time with different company which they were visiting Copenhagen for the first time in their life. That´s why I advised them to take this tour which I already did. However, I wanted to join the tour as well, this time with... More

Perhaps the tour was enjoyed by others but I don't feel like we learned much. Didn't receive explanation on buildings or parts of the city we passed. Or had to stop guide and ask. Lots of talking, wordy, with no info on historical or cultural aspects of the city. Was a bit bizarre to be honest. I actually felt down... More

Had a free walking tour with Martin who found us lost for where to go in the tourist information office and suggested the tour. It's brilliant, he's a friendly funny and very informative tour guide and a brilliant way to see the city. Would definitely recommend especially if on a tight timetable like us.

I found the tour very informative and it's a great way to learn about the history of the city. Our guide, Martin, was knowledgeable, funny and super friendly. He's the sort of chap that I'd be more than happy to go down to the pub and have a pint together.

We had a very good free walking tour with Martin. He was well informed, entertaining, and peppered the walk with his personal observations and experiences, which was an interesting perspective

I am currently studying in Copenhagen but decided to do a free walking tour when my mother and sister came to visit. Our tour guide Martin was very informative, easy to hear, and made the tour very enjoyable! I have gone on Sandeman tours in 3 different countries now and they are always the best.
