Trip Advisor reviews inspired me to check out this attraction, and it was well worth it. The modern part of the library on the canal is really spectacular: Great for taking photos outside and inside, and admission is free. Be sure to go up and...More

The visit to the Royal Library (nowdays rather called "the Black Diamond" because of the modern extension of the building) is a nice experience. The entrance is free, the wifi also, and the place is nice to lounge and sit either inside or outside in...More

Historical landmark that is worth going. Be quiet as a visitor not to disturb any students studying in the gorgeous self-study area. Connected to the modern building the Black Diamond which offers a place for rest, souvenirs, and nice cake and coffee. Toilets available.

The new part of the Royal Library is definitely worth a visit; a modern architectural gem located right on the water with interesting exhibits, a shop, a nice cafe. Beautiful spot for reading and people-watching.

I like to visit libraries on my trips. This one is cool, a mix of old and new, right on the water. An escalator takes you up a couple of levels but there is a sign saying wheelchairs not allowed, then the elevator says staff...More

The "Black Diamond" is a very striking, black glass waterfront addition built on to the charming brick-built Royal Library from 1906. Free to walk in and look around, cross from the Black Diamond to the older library via a glassed-in bridge. Access to the quiet...More

Happily, we participated in the Marina Abramovic exhibit that gives you more than 60 minutes of superb audio readings in a specially designed exhibit room. This is a brilliant way to appreciate the library,s treasures that include rare ancient texts as well precious letters written...More

We visited the Royal Library primarily for the architecture. Impressive to see how well the new waterfront extension - Black Diamond - is merged with the old library building. I wish that we would have had time for a guided tour, but unfortunately not. Next...More

We weren't looking for the Royal Library but accidentally stumbled across it and it was really lovely. The building and grounds are lovely to stroll around. There's also a little cafe selling really good coffee in the grounds.

Found this place on accident, happened to peep down a passage way as we passed through this court yard. Then we ended up there. Extremely beautiful and peaceful gardens. Well worth a visit even if it's to sit for five minutes.
