Getting off the river ferry bus at the Black Diamond as I believe it is known. Stunningly impressive with a busy, purposeful ambience inside. The view from the central escalator is exceptional. What a wonderful Library. By contrast the old entrance on the other side of the road has a baroque(?) facade and looks every inch a royal library.

This is a gorgeous place to visit. Also they had a display of old rare books for free that included some really interesting books.

What a privilege to be able to go inside the National Library. As Librarians, my husband and Iwere very interested to see this historic building as well as the beautiful addition. Truly an asset to Copenhagen... and all of Denmark. Location is close to Nuhavn, so easy access for walking if you are in the neighborhood. Again, 2015, not as... More

Arrived in Copenhagen on a rainy day. After booking into hotel we ventured out and as we had no particucar plans for the rest of the day, we decided to walk to the Library. From the distance alone the architecture is amazing to look at and as you get inside, it is such an enspiring place. Busy with students, there... More

Worth a visit just to see the architecture of the building, but inside there are some exhibitions to look at too. You can also just chill out by the river too

The Royal Library has an amazing collection of old books and papers. They were all displayed in large cabinets, with full descriptions and explanation sin English. Very interesting

We were taken there as part of a conference, but it would probably be interesting to visit without a guided tour if you are interested in architecture

The Royal Library is an amazing place! Black Diamond indeed. The library itself is stunning - a wonderful mixture of new and old with plenty of opportunities from rare books to delightful concerts! There is a wooden terrace in front of the new part of the building, a perfect place to spend summer days. Behind the old part you will... More

I didnt visit the library, (it was undergoing renovation on the facarde when I was there), but the gardens are the best place for Pokemon catching. Lots of folks just walking around the central fountain catching Pokemon. Quite a sight in itself.

I spent about 45 minutes wandering from floor to floor of the library and was just overwhelmed by how beautiful the architecture was. I highly recommend getting up to at least the second floor, where you can get a good view of the readings rooms, windowed front wall, and lower escalators - it's really quite extraordinary. And in the afternoons,... More
