This historic castle was constructed on three islands and is surrounded by lake and beautiful gardens. Frederiksborg Castle has housed The Museum of National History since 1878. A tour through the museum's many beautiful rooms is an encounter with kings, queens, nobles, the bourgeois, events, and epochs, which have all shaped the country's history and development from the Middle Ages to the 21st century. The museum was founded by brewer J.C. Jacobsen, the founder of Carlsberg.

After reading maps, searching google maps, walking across the same pedestrian crossing about 5 times, if anyone was looking at us......we eventually found what we were looking for and that included bus rides, asking an official and a train ride to get there, but that's us all the time we do eventually get there......but boy were we not disappointed about... If you only have time to see one castle near Copenhagen I would make it this castle. I found it to be better than the Kronborg (Hamelet) castle. Frederiksborg Castle had a cheaper admittance fee, plus it had a beautiful castle garden as well. I'll definitely be back again during the summer for a pleasant stroll in the castle gardens.

Had a wonderful time here. The inside of the castle, especially the Church and The Great Hall were beautiful and the manicured grounds made for a scenic walk even with the blustery April weather

We visited with our two sons, 23 & 14, with very different interests. The castle & museum proved very interesting to both. We came from the garden direction - a long walk (12 min.) but very much worth it. Great visit.

The palace is amazing. The rooms in the palace are beautiful and full of history about Denmark and our Royal family.

It took us about 30 minutes of drive from Copenhagen to this castle. It was huge and beautiful. It would be nice to walk in the garden if the weather was sunny.

This is a beautiful castle. Maybe the most beautiful in denmark.. the place is charming with bridges and views to the lake.. inside is beautiful, like a palace.. outside there is a nice garden (not as great as Versailles or Schönbrunn, but quiet and beautiful anyway). the entrance is 75 DKK.. to get here from copenhagen is very easy.
