Small museum with cool ships

The Viking ship museum doesn't take long to go through- though it is interesting and engaging. Plan on no more than an hour here - and then make sure to hit the cathedral as well.

Small place but the collection of artefacts and the viking ships there were great to see! The souvenir shop had reasonably priced little and big souvenirs to take back home too!

We visited 30 min before close time and had to rush inside to see the old Viking ships. We were allowed to explore the outside for longer. It is a nice place to learn about Viking ship building.

This is excellent for people who are interested about history. We happened to visit in a very rainy and cold day, so we did not explore any outdoor exhibitions. The cafe was pleasant, food was average.

Didn't have high hopes when I went to this museum but found it really interesting and full of fascinating information about the Viking boats that had been found in the area. Great reconstructions and wonderful setting. The restaurant in the museum was a bit pricey but excellent food.

We happened to visit here on the day of their Viking enactment day, it was fabulous - blacksmiths, bronze smelting, owls, sail-making, rope-making and traditional Viking food. And that was before we went inside the museum! The inside exhibition space is atmospheric and well-presented. It tells the story of the Viking longships beautifully and is truly captivating. The regular activities... More

I would thoroughly recommend a visit to this museum which houses the remains of 5 Viking ships and tells the story of their discovery in the water around during Roskilde. Take the train from Copenhagen (ticket covered by Copenhagen card) then catch the 203 bus from the station directly to the Museum (also covered by the card). Take a packed... More

The place to be in the world if you are interested in Viking ships and how these are built. Fantastic craftsmanship is revisited in the living workshops around the museum. Further, you can voyage out in the fjord yourself like the Vikings did 1000 years ago in a replica ship.

If staying in Copenhagen then this is only 25 mins by train and a 10 minute walk. The museum has viking ships recovered from over 1000 years ago. A must see, great for any age, plenty to read and keep busy. Outdoor things too if not snowing!!

Wonderful and perfect location. The shop is fantastic too with wonderful gifts. You can easily spend a day including the restaurant and a visit to the Gas Works (art gallery) and cathedral up the road.
