This sculpture park is situated in a park area that previously belonged to the old mental hospital Umedalen i e means translated "The Umeå valley", in the western part of Umeå, northern Sweden. The sculpture park should be visited during the snow-free period, to be seen. No entrance fee. The greatest benefit of the artworks you get if you have... More

Some of the artwork is thought provoking, some unusual, some ridiculous and one item in particular is rubbish – literally it is rubbish in fibreglass! I would suggest that anyone wanting to visit the park picks up the free brochure, with map, from the tourist information centre in Umea. It shows you where in the park the different artwork is.... We got the bus out here (remember - card payments only on the buses!) and were a bit confused as to where the park was. It's not well mapped/signed, so we wandered about a bit and found one or two sculptures (although some could equally have been playground equipment as there's also a school in those grounds!). It was nice... More

I love the concept of art in and around everyday life. The art is spread around in a large area, a school and homes also reside here. A map can be found at one of the local art sellars on the outskirts of the park, right behind the school. It was difficult for me to want to contiune looking for... More

Not really necessary to get out of the town to get there. There are some sculptures but it is not great.

It was difficult to know where to find the art as we couldn't find a reception area of sorts, so just wandered around. The sculptures were interesting and it was overall a good experience, although as we got on the bus to leave we realised we'd missed half of the art pieces across the road. Also, we were with our... Umedalen skulptur is a really great attraction if you are the least interested in art. Several internationally well-known artists are represented and new ones are added regularly. The park is always open and there is no entrance fee. The park is also used as a recreation area and its good for the whole family.

Interesting park! Nice to see how they transformed a place where a mental ilnesses hospital existed, into this nice spot. You have now several buildings there: schools, senior housing, some small companies and the park, with some nice sculptures! A good place for you to bring children because they have where to play and to run safely! If you go... More

OK, so the Sculpture Park is FREE. What they don't tell you is that you have to pay to park your car there which will cost you up to 25SEK and the Automatic Credit Card Toll Collection Machines are only programmed in Swedish. So having then found somewhere else to park you make your way in and with luck you... More

Wau! Very intresting artworks located at a nice park and surraunded by Swedens used to be biggest mental hospital (now used as school and Healthcare center etc etc.) Most artworks are between buildings. Our children were very happy to climb many of those.
