Much more than first impression . A castle and museum combined. Explains how the castle was used for many different purposes throughout it's lifetime. Displays including fashion, art works , china, different styles of paintings and artefacts from the castles inhabitants. A lovely art deco staircase too.

A lot to see and explore. One can easily get lost due to lack signage inside the museum. Quite varied as ranging from aquarium and vivarium, historical items in the old castle and some modern art exhibition. Could easily spend about 3 hours to do it justice.

Malmo Castle is a great building, walking distance away from the Central Station. With an amazing garden area between the two, walking from the station to the castle takes about 20 minutes if you take your time sightseeing. My most favourite area was the prison exhibition! Loved the squeaky doors, the photo gallery with the mugshots and the additional information available for the way the prison worked. The sounds made it scarier thasn some haunted house experiences I have previously visited! Also, the haunting story with the lovely little kitty, and the tiny paw prints are just adorable! Additionally, the various stairwells, and the cannon tower were a pleasant walk (on-and-off the stairs). Note for the people with accessibility concerns - seems to not be accommodating. Overall, it's a great, authentic side of Malmo where I loved spending some time in history. Would have preferred if the small windows next tot he cannons were cleaned and I could see through them, though. Honestly, I went there for the castle and the historical part, but I also got the museum entrance tickets to see what it's about. To be fair, I do not get modern art, so I will not comment on that section of the exhibition halls. I will, however, tell you that the Rococo and classical paintings were mesmerising. I have been to the Louvre and Versailles, and some of the paintings here definitely deserve at least as much fame as those there! The aquarium was very similar to the one I visited in Vienna, so if you like that kind of thing, walk down the stairs and enjoy the animals. Some of the 'preserved' animals, however, were not my kind of thing. Not a fan of taxidermy at all. I also almost missed the castle side, because it is after the children's area, and I really did not intend to go there as a whole.

Malmohus Slot offers visitors with a glimpse into medieval Scandinavian life and defense. The castle is pleasant walk from Lille Torg. The museum in the round tower is eye-opening to the perils of the life of enemies and prisoners.

This was actually full of things to do. I’d say we managed to get around the whole place in 2 hours and that didn’t involve stopping and reading everything. There was a lot of things on offer - the castle itself, the temporary exhibits, the aquarium, it was just a lot of fun overall. There are a lot of stairs in the actual castle, so that is a struggle after a while, and I did trip a couple times, but that may just be me. I do recommend though, it’s a fun look into Malmö and the country’s history with Denmark. The exhibit on sex and gender was also exquisite and actually provided a lot of information I feel a lot of people could benefit from reading.

Malmö Castle (Swedish: Malmöhus or Malmöhus Slott) is a medieval castle located on Slottsholmen ("Castle islet") in Malmö, Sweden. It was built between 1526 and 1539 and is the oldest preserved Renaissance castle in the Nordic region. Malmö Castle is part of The Malmö Museum. It is owned by the Swedish state and managed by the National Property Board.

Visited on a day trip from copenhagen. There is plenty to do in the castle and centre. Understandably, most of the signs are in Swedish and not in English but there are some in english, including on QR codes and there’s a really interesting video about the history of the city and castle. Aquarium was worth a visit.
