An art noveau villa at Djurgården created for financier Ernest Thiel's magnificent art collection, designed by Ferdinand Boberg, completed in 1907. An art gallery representing Scandinavian painters like Munch, Jansson, Zorn, Larsson and Liljefors.

One of the finest art museums in Sweden, the Thiel Gallery exhibits a unique collection of Nordic late 19th and early 20th century art. Painters such as Edvard Munch, Carl Larsson, Bruno Liljefors and Anders Zorn form the basis of the banker Ernest Thiel’s collection.

The National Gallery is closed for renovation until 2018. Nervertheless Stockholm offers other paintings experiences chiefly the Waldenmarsudde Gallery and the Thielska Gallery both located on the south and eastern shores of Djurgarden Island. The highlight must be the room of paintings by Norwegian artist Munch, lovely to see so many and such a grand scale. I also enjoyed the swedish art and craft furniture and decor of this beautiful building
