I took a cruise on the lake on a warm spring day. It was very pleasurable - the only hitch was we got hung up at the lock because so many small craft were wanting to get out to the sea and the archipelago.

The best way to experience this lake is by taking any of the cruises that enter the lake. One will find spectacular views of the city from this lake.

We took the metro to Solna strand and walked by the lake in to Stockholm. Perfect pathway. Very nice area. A lot of other people walked there in the sunshine.

If you can bear the freezing temperatures, highly recommend the Winter Tour by Boat. We did the one and half hour tour (ample as my toes felt they had frostbite) which takes on a lovely cruise around the surrounding archipelagos. Wrap-up warm but there is...More

Malardrotningen Hotel /Yacht would be fun for kids, although cabins are small and you would need multiple cabins if you have more than two people in your party.
