I snuck out early while the wife was still sleeping for a walk here after reading some of the picture opportunities and seeing how close it was to our hotel (Hilton Slussen...total luck on that one). GREAT early morning walk up to the site, but man was it cold. This is to be expected of course. It IS Stockholm, but... More

This was the first stop on our Princess Cruise Tour. We spent about 15 minutes or so gazing at this pretty city on a bit of a gloomy early morning. Sunset and evening must be great. Take your pictures to enjoy later.

An excellent walk on Södermalm overlooking Mälaren with City Hall and Old Town. Sights are awesome and the walk nice with several good spots to take a break and enjoy the scenery

It's easy to find using the GPS or offline/online maps. Nearest metro station is Slussen or Mariatorget. Its offers some great views of Stockholm. The walk in itself is great. You can bring your food and drinks and can have a small picnic. You can very well find some well designated benches and table to sit and relax and enjoy... More

This is THE place for complete views of the city. It takes a bit of walking to get to - about 1 km (15 min) from the closest metro stop, and it's uphill. But the views are spectacular. You really get to see the whole city from here. There are benches so you can sit and enjoy the view. We... More

This walk past gorgeous houses affords you a view over the water, with Riddarkyrkan presiding over Riddarholmen. Not to be missed.

Staying in Mariatorget

Neighbourhood Profile
Mariatorget
This rather quiet neighborhood revolves around a postcard-like park with a dramatic fountain in its center and is definitely one of Stockholm’s showcase neighborhoods. Mariatorget, a central residential area, is the best Stockholm has to offer when it comes to juxtaposing architectural masterpieces with sophisticated art galleries, coffee shops and bars. Stockholmers love to spend their weekends in the park or one of the nearby coffee shops, so come to Mariatorget to meet the locals. The northern part of Mariatorget boasts historic buildings, beautiful cobblestone streets, and one of Stockholm’s best observation decks, Monteliusvägen, from where you can see an amazing view of the city hall and Stockholm’s old town.
