I love going into stores where the staff behind the counter don't stare at you while you move around the store. It turns out the "staff" behind the counter was Lena M, the artist herself. She was friendly when asked if she was the artist, cute woman. Her artwork is original and one that we really liked. We ended up... More

Whilst it is easy to be drawn in by the cheery graphic post cards, dishcloths and trays on display this gallery also contains the work of real fine artist. There are beautiful paintings derived from nature and landscape individually rendered on chunks of reclaimed wood. Not for everyone maybe - but they might just be for you. I bought two... More

Lovely boutique gift shop, you feel as though you have discovered something special as soon as you walk in. It's all about the cutesy prints - dishcloths and and trays - I wasn't even sure that the dishcloths were dishcloths they looked so pretty lined up like postcards - rigid until wet, they can also be framed. I'm not sure... More

Staying in Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen

Neighbourhood Profile
Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen
Gamla Stan is Stockholm’s historic old town and home to the Swedish Royal Palace. It’s the most central island of Stockholm and accompanied by the small island of Riddarholmen, mainly known for its famous Riddarholm Church. Gamla Stan tends to be a bit touristy at times but is definitely worth visiting: take a stroll past the well-preserved buildings and through the small (and also Sweden’s narrowest) alleys, which will make you feel like you’ve travelled back in time. This neighborhood offers a great combination of historical buildings and traditional Swedish restaurants.
