Karlaplan is a round plaza in Östermalm. It is named in honor of all the Swedish kings called Karl. It is one of the most expensive places to live in Stockholm city.

Station is easy to get to from just about any line. Karlaplan has a few shops and a park and fountain area with seating. Very clean and peaceful. Walk straight to get to the history museum (3 minutes) or the vasa and Nordic museum (10 mins). A nice alternative to taking the tram from central station to the museum.

This plaza sits in the center of a roundabout in the upscale Ostermalm neighborhood. We got off at the metro stop here (T-13 red line) to take a 5-minute walk to visit the lovely Swedish History Museum that focuses on the Viking era and Middle Ages.
Though attractive with tall trees, Karlaplan had little to offer when we ambled across the expanse except some benches where visitors could sit. Its large pool basin was empty and the tall fountain in the basin's center wasn't working. The plaza offered enough space, however, for a small flea market to be under way that Saturday afternoon with mostly clothes, shoes and small household items. This market had brought out some neighborhood residents, who browsed through the offerings.
Karlaplan gave us little more than a good shortcut on our way to the museum. But it likely presents a different image with a pool and operating fountain.

A nice park which is close to shops and restaurants. I enjoyed the walk every day through the park specially on a sunny day.

Didn't actually stop off here as it was only small, but our tour bus drive around it . Trees hadn't grown back yet and fountain wasn't on. But it still looked nice.

It's basically a glorified roundabout surrounded by tall trees, but there's something about this place that makes it very enjoyable. Also a station on the red line 13.

This is the centre point of Stockholm's Upper East (Östermalm). Fältöversten is a shopping centre with essential shopping. Karlaplan is also a hub for public transport.

Right close to a main subway station in a nice (not touristy) area of town. Great fountain. If I lived near here I would come at my lunch hour to eat by the fountain. People who live here should really appreciate the beauty of this town.
