Like most of the reviews have mentioned, there's not a lot to see but it is a historic site after all; a marvelous piece of history that has withstood the test of time. It is what it is and to see the actual remnants of...More

There is not much left of the castle. There are some information boards, wich I recommend reading (finnish, swedish, english). We found this place very interesting and beautiful.

The best view was from the bridge. It good that the old ruin is a visitor attraction but there isn't much to see. Access is via a small footbridge.

This, the world's northernmost castle ruin, has an interesting history and is well worth a visit. It dates back to the early 17th century and is strategically situated on a small river island. Information boards give a good background to visitors.

Roofless ruins of a 1600 century castle in the middle of Kajaani. Some renovation was going on, but visit was still possible.

Nice castle ruins, next to an amazing river. You can get some beautiful pictures here. Also a perfect and quick stop for families. The only disappointing thing is that some of the walls have been tainted with graffiti.

Castle ruins are under the bridge in the city center. Why the hell they have built a bridge trough a castle? The castle itself is always open and free to explore. This is really nice castle because it is small but quite a maze. At...More
