What's not to like about good chocolate, good coffee, and good pastry? We stopped in Fazer's for an afternoon pick-me-up. In this elegant and historic setting, we enjoyed rich coffee and delightful rolls. The chocolate had to wait until later. Service is at a counter and there are a variety of cafe tables to rest your feet. Truly an iconic experience.

Opposite the eponymous Cafe is this fine stylised sculpture of a Rooster. It was donated by the Fazer Co to the city in 1991 to celebrate the centenary of the opening of the famous Cafe by Karl Fazer. Björn Weckström was the sculptor.

A symbol of Fazer Confectionary, the rooster was an apt subject. However the sculpture is quite unrealistic thus inviting commentary on what it actually portrays and means.

After reading and taking photos; I’ll have to go in and sample the products. The statue does indicate an important and admired person, I probably won’t get a statue, so I enjoyed his for the moment.

The famous Finnish chocolate brand Fazer gave the modern Rooster sculpture by Björn Weckström to the city when celebrating the centennial of their cafeteria at Kluuvikatu. The sculptor is best known internationally for his space theme jewellery collection including the Galactic tops necklace Princess Leia wore in the first Star Wars movie. It is still sold in solid silver around the corner at Kalevala Koru. The artist himself donated another sculpture, the Whistling townie to the city to honour the friendliness, helpfullness and tolerance of the people of Helsinki. It is situated at the newly renovated pedestrian street Iso Roobertinkatu.

I think this is the starting place for the Fazer business. Now it offers salty pastry and sweet pastry with coffee or tea. Tastes excellent in a premium atmosphere. One of the must see places in Helsinki.

The Fazer Rooster is located at Kluuvikatu in front of the Fazer store, a French-Russian confectionery.

The sculpture was placed in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the Fazer confectionery.

The sculpture was created by Björn Weckström in 1991.

Nothing special about this monument but it’s hard to miss if you’re in close proximity to Fazer. It symbolises Fazer Confectionary.

Interesting sculpture by Björn Weckström, famous finnish sculptor. Fazer donated it for City of Helsinki. Futuristic bronze sculpture. Shape of rooster which is also the symbol of Fazer.
