As I enjoy walking around in market halls Hakaniemi market was the first to visit for me. In the groundfloor you will find all kinds of food, even some bakeries! The food sold here is said to be of the best quality in Helsinki! On the first ground you will find all kinds of items and souvenirs, even a marimekko-shop... More

For any traveller to Helsinki who seeks bargain souvenir, this market hall - famous with locals and of historical interest - should be a target wherein to find that desired gift or typically Finnish handicraft item. Not only does it provide the usual wooden and woollen items but it also offers good quality food and snacks for those who require... More

If Kauppatori is touristic, Hakaniementori is the authentic Market as the Market Hall also. Full of life and local people. Fresh products, vegetables, food. Friendly athmosphere.

I passed through here on my way to meet friends at Juttutupa for lunch. It was a weekday and there was the usual sorry selection of 10 or so uninteresting stalls. Yes, OK, if you want to buy some berries, great, but why would you come all the way here to do so? The Hakaniemi Market Hall, on the other... More

Sunny sunshine, happy welcoming smile and a hot cup of coffee in the local coffee place, strolling along the potatoe, strawberry, flower..vendors. Trams passing by and people rushing their way to the subway. What a nice place to spend some moments!

So sure you'll find your share of souvenir shops plying their wares, don't worry, they aren't annoying and it's a good place to pick up some local t-shirts, etc. But the food stalls are everywhere selling an assortment of fish and...Reindeer meat! I had some Reindeer meatballs and jerky as well. I couldn't tell much difference between it and venison,... More

I enjoyed my visit to this quite small market. there were plenty of stalls selling quality local produce at reasonable prices, form Fish to Veg, loved it. If I had more time I would have had a meal there as the small street food cafes all had plenty of local food on offer.

Thank Andy H
