The fortress consist of an island 10 minutes by ferry from Helsinki city center. No extra ticket needed to take the ferry: you can go with a normal ticket for the Helsinki public transports. Very beautiful, especially during sunny days. Perfect also for families.

Lovely place at summer! The trip by boat to the island is relaxing. Many places where you can eat and drink, sunbathe. The best is the summer theatre!

We spent half a day there, but could easily enjoy a full day. Liked to find out more of the history of Finland but in a mondern context. Loved the toy museum. They also have a lovely cafe and gluten free cake.

Two Questions: 1) We are arriving on a cruise. From there I understand we need to get to the Ferries in Market Square. How do we get to these ferries? Walk, tram, etc? 2) Does the JTL Ferry drop you off directly at Kings Gate? If not JTL, do any ferries? Thank you.

It says the main museum does not open until 10:00. If we get there at 9, can we still walk around the fortress or is the whole site closed?
