We strolled around the whole island, viewing and admiring the many attractions. Glorious Uspenskin Cathedral with its remarkable interior is outstanding. We were enthralled with the Old Customs Building that was built at the beginning of the last century to handle the increasing trade of...More

Katajanokka with its population of ~4000 is adjacent to downtown area. There is a fairly frequent tram connection to Katajanokka. It is also home for a large passenger harbor. It is advisable to avoid the times when the larger ferries arrive and depart because the...More

We had a wonderful stay in the converted jail. It's a short walk to the city Center or hop on the tram directly outside the doors and for 9€ have a day pass. Good value to get around. The restaurant in the hotel was good...More

I have stayed in Katajanokka a few times, and love this headland suburb. Quiet (except when a ferry comes in), with interesting local architecture, good transport, and some stunning walks by the water.

including a historic boat. A lovely location to wait for your cruise. There are many cruises to The Baltics and Scandinavia which embark form this locale.

We stayed at the prison hotel and spent time walking along the north side paths, ate at the restaurants (the one attached to the hostel is pretty good, it's a regular, independent place), visited the cathedral. Nice place to get away from the crowds of...More
