This is one of the better zoos than I have been too, not far from the city centre, nice and clean where one can roam freely and be close to nature, the entry fees is nominal and there is a restaurant, you can also bring...More

Korkeasaari is a perfect place to go for a day out. On top of seeing animals, you get very nice views of the city of Helsinki too (if you neglect the construction sites at Kalasatama). During the winter season it's also very quiet and you...More

Lovely zoo. Lots of animals to see. Most of the animals were out in their enclosures and it was very quite when we visited early morning. It was easy to get to, we got the bus from outside the central station you can't miss it...More

It takes about 40 minutes to get to the Zoo from the city center, but it is definitely worth it. In addition to an extensive collection of birds and animals in open-air cages and special pavillions, you can meet peacocks and geese who walk free,...More

On the small side as far as zoos go, but there was only ~10 other visitors when we went, so felt like a private zoo! All the animals were outside, the Tiger cubs in particular were very active, always playing and slipping in the snow,...More

A nice zoo, not the biggest in the world but its location on an island in touching distance of downtown Helsinki is great. I've been in the summer and the winter. Both are good but I most enjoyed in the winter in the snow when...More

I visited the Helsinki zoo in Mid-January. There were very few animals that were out to see, which was disappointing. The zoo, however, looked like a great place to visit in warmer weather. It is on an island and well laid out, with many animal...More

It was a surprise to find a zoo open in such cold conditions and a great experience! Getting to the zoo is simple on the #16 Bus from the central train station and takes less than 30 minutes. Entry to the zoo was 12 EUR...More

Very easy to get to, with buses running quite frequently and dropping you off right at the gates (there was no boat because it was winter). It was a typical old-fashioned city zoo with lots of concrete and animals in smallish, cages spaces. The bit...More

Hello, Greetings from Australia. We arrive in Helsinki on a cruise for one day in July from 7am until 4pm. We would like to visit the zoo but we have a commitment in the city at 1pm. What is the quickest way to get to the zoo as I noticed it opens at 10am and we want to maximise our time in Helsinki? I understand there is a ferry that takes 40min. Is it possible to drive there quicker, in which case we may organise a taxi, Uber or driver? Kind regards, Skot

Hello, and welcome to Finland! The quickest way depends on where you should be at 1pm. Both the ferry from the Market Place and the bus no 16 from the Central Railwaystation take about 20 minutes. As the first ferry leaves... More
